Welcome!

Are you new here? Don’t worry! Little Island Furcon Online - LIFCO for short - is a great place to have fun, meet new friends, and experience what the furry fandom has to offer. This guide will help you familiarise yourself with the event so you can enjoy yourself to the fullest during the event. Ready to find out more? Let’s get started!

LIFCO

LIFCO is a one-day event on 21 May from 2:00pm to 12:00am. It’s held on the Discord platform. Throughout the day, there will be many activities to check out. There will be games to play, panels to attend, artists to commission, merch to buy, and hangout rooms to chill in. It can feel overwhelming at first, but don’t try to do everything at once. There will be enough time to check them all out throughout the course of the day.

Registration

The first thing you have to do is register! Registration is now open! Head over to the registration page and fill it out to get your ticket!

Once you have filled in the form, stay tuned for the confirmation email from us. This email will include an invite link to the LIFCO Discord so you can join our server. If you don’t see it after a week, be sure to check your spam folder for it.

Discord

As the event date arrives, be sure to install Discord and create an account. Head over to the Discord website and follow the instructions to get yourself set up with Discord. If you’re new to Discord, check out the Beginner’s Guide to Discord and familiarise yourself with the interface!

Preparation

Since this is an online event, there are much less preparations to worry about. Unlike physical conventions, you won’t have to buy a flight ticket, arrange hotel accommodations, take leave from work, pack your luggage, and so on. All you need is a computer and an internet connection for the day itself.

There’s still some preparations you can do, though. Check out the event page for panels, games, and other activities you may want to attend. You can come up with a rough schedule for the day, but keep it flexible in case something new catches your attention!

If you’re joining some of the games, early preparation will help too. Depending on the kind of game that you’re playing, you may have to buy and/or install it on your computer. If an account is required, be sure to create one.

The Dealer’s Den is also a place where you can get art commissions and buy merchandise. If you’re planning to check it out, be sure to have a payment method ready. Most dealers accept the USD currency through PayPal, although some local dealers will accept SGD on PayNow.

Invite a friend to join too! Alternatively, you can join our Telegram chat group and meet new friends there. LIFCO is more enjoyable if you’re checking out the games and attending panels with your friends. You can even meet up at someone’s house and join the event on your own laptops. Just be sure to adhere to current COVID-19 regulations.

Lastly, do follow us on our social media platform and stay tuned for updates! We will be announcing various activities from time to time that you can look forward to.

The Event

After much anticipation, the event day is here! Join us for the Opening Ceremony as we kick start the event. After that, you’re free to roam the Discord server. As you join the various activities, be sure to stick to the Attendee’s Code of Conduct (link) so we can keep it a safe and enjoyable space for everyone.

Explore what LIFCO has to offer. It can be tempting to settle into a hangout room that you’re comfortable with, but you’ll be missing out. There could be new games you can try, panels that teach you something different, and potential friends you could meet. Keep an open mind!

If you’re here with friends, check out the activities together. Meeting strangers in our hangout rooms is less intimidating with a friend.

Shy?

Don’t worry about being shy or awkward in the voice channels. Chances are, other people in the channel are afraid of that too. You can be the one to reach out and start a conversation. You may spark a new friendship with it. Sometimes the conversation won’t lead anywhere, and that’s okay! It happens even to the best of us.

If there’s already a conversation going on, don’t feel pressured to contribute, especially if it’s not a topic you are familiar with. Listen in and enjoy the company; you don’t have to speak to be a part of the conversation.

After The Event

As we wrap everything up in our Closing Ceremony, the fun doesn’t have to end there! Connect with people beyond the activities. Had fun with your teammates during a game? Attended a panel hosted by a charismatic panellist? Reach out to them and send them a message!

“Hi, I really enjoyed playing Left 4 Dead 2 with you guys. Do you want to play again someday, after LIFCO?”

“Yo, you showed me a new perspective on things during your panel. Do you mind if I ask you more questions on the topic?”

A short message can spark a conversation that may just lead to a new and fulfilling friendship! Who knows? Maybe you’ll be attending the next LIFCO together!
